Whether one uses a Mac or PC mistakes in the form of inadvertent file deletion occur on a regular basis. While the most common means by which files are accidentally deleted on Windows occurs during emptying of the Windows recycle bin. This is a unique file structure into which PC users can drag and drop files and folders. While on the surface the system appears to be a file deletion, in actuality the Windows recycle bin is merely a holding folder. Mac computers use a similar system called the trash. The purpose of both of these folder/containers is to allow computer users a second chance when deleting files and folders. Should one come to the realization that a document or application deleted and placed into the Windows recycle bin was actually still needed, it is a simple matter to open the bin and restore that item.
By the same token to undelete trash Mac users also follow a quick restore process. Should the Mac trash or Windows recycle bin be emptied all of the files contained therein are more permanently deleted. There are however available programs for recycle bin recovery and to undelete Mac trash that will even allow the user to recover files after these bins have been emptied.
